This temporary “pop-up” school is an engaging and playful response to the immediate educational needs of the Ultimo Public School while the new permanent school was under construction. The design responds to the physical constraints of the site in Wentworth Park while challenging preconceptions of the use of demountable classrooms and creates a stimulating learning environment. Through the use of outdoor learning zones, colour and playful graphic overlays, this “pop-up” will be an experience leaving a lasting memory for the children and staff who use it, a special, if fleeting, moment in the life of the School.
