Western Sydney University
This project entailed the complete replacement of the main commercial kitchen for the Parramatta Campus of Western Sydney University. Completed in 1998, the original kitchen envisaged a campus of 4000 students. Yet by 2008, the population had grown to 7000 and was unable to cater for the peak demand.
The interior design of the facility responded to changes in the food offering with less emphasis on liquor sales and increased service of cafe style and fresh foods. The main kitchen was rationalised and expanded to enable a wider range of meals to be prepared for other outlets on the campus. The project also included reorganisation of the outdoor eating areas providing new covered areas and the selection and scheduling of all loose furniture.
Delivered as part of a wider Student Precinct Upgrade that transformed a wide range of student facilities at the
heart of the campus, the project needed to accommodate a number of significant timing and physical constraints. Following a short documentation time frame, the project was constructed over the mid year holidays.
