University of Notre Dame Australia
Pioneer House at 128-140 Broadway, Chippendale was constructed following resumptions and road widening in Broadway in the 1930s, as part of a group of buildings constructed around that time. Originally including a bank and six shops on the ground floor with warehouse space above and a caretaker’s flat on the top floor, the building was purchased by University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA) to expand their teaching facilities, as it is located close to their other university buildings in Chippendale.
As part of our ongoing architectural work for UNDA, Tanner Kibble Denton Architects completed the design and documentation for new educational facilities as an adaptive reuse and refurbishment project. Minor repairs and restoration works were carried out to the facades.
The educational facilities include a new main entrance, reception, offices & meeting room on the ground floor; teaching spaces & seminar rooms on levels 1, 2 and 3; teaching spaces, seminar rooms & offices on level 4, and seminar rooms & offices on level 5.
