Tallawong Public School

Location:
Dharug Country / Tallawong
Client:
SINSW / Richard Crookes Construction

Set within a mix of bushland and emerging neighbourhoods, Tallawong Public School supports a growing community of up to 600 students.

The campus is organised as a series of linked buildings, with open circulation that connects classrooms to the surrounding landscape and supports clear, intuitive movement across the site.

Colour and form are used to define key elements of the school. Bright soffits, screening, and play areas help structure the campus and create a legible environment. Internally, colour blocking and coloured glass distinguish the different learning areas.

A large-scale artwork, Garad the Black Cockatoo by Jamie Eastwood, is integrated within the covered court. Developed with Dharug knowledge holders, the work references local ecologies and stories of Country, expressing the relationship between earth and sky and the importance of ecological balance.
