The COS Australian Flagship Store occupies the Banking Chamber of the former Commonwealth Bank of Australia building in Martin Place. This historic bank was completed in 1916 and the structure and interiors are of exceptional heritage significance. When the former banking chamber was identified for re-use as high-quality retail space, TKD Architects designed and documented the building conservation works and the fit-out for the COS Store. This included conservation of the existing space and finishes, the introduction of new bronze and glass tenancy partitions, integration of new services and a new lift connecting to the Bank’s strong rooms at lower ground floor level.
