The fitout of a new library and community hub at No.2 Conder Street, Burwood provided an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vital community facility and revitalise a former council building located on the edge of the busy Burwood commercial and civic precinct.

The development of an inventive strategy for the successful adaptive reuse of the former council office building into a new central library and community hub was the key outcome of this project. The integration of the building with the adjacent public domain has resulted in a positive civic precinct.

We see a project that enmeshes the urban fabric of Burwood with a vision for a new architectural expression of the former council building. With considerable experience in the adaptive reuse of buildings Tanner Kibble Denton Architects understands the process for sustainable reuse of structures and building fabric. We have successfully delivered library and public projects for both local government and educational institutions. We understand the forces that shape the modern cultural and civic developments.
