This project involves the conservation and adaptation of two surviving cottages from the former hospital site. It also introduces the design of new pairs of attached residences meeting contemporary standards for residential design while maintaining the heritage significance of the group. The scale, form and arrangement of the original inter-related buildings was revived to form a cohesive group in an open setting. Using best practice conservation standards to deliver contemporary, quality dwellings, the overall complex retains and builds upon the character of the earlier Artisan Cottages buildings, providing re-invigorated and sustainable buildings linking the history of the site to its future.
