Peter has over 25 years of broad architectural experience in residential, commercial and civic projects, including educational facilities, in urban and regional areas. His involvement in education projects include primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. Peter has tutored at UNSW for many years, was Principal of his own practice and has managed many larger projects for design firms. His experience working at different scales, on a wide variety of typologies, gives Peter a depth of knowledge that he can apply to manage architectural projects from inception through construction.

I see architecture as both an artefact and a process and find great satisfaction in the interplay of these two aspects. As an artefact, architecture is influenced by, and should complement, its context – geographical, historical, cultural, technological. As a process, it is the reconciliation of numerous forces – aspirational, financial, statutory, and technical. I enjoy the collaboration required to produce inspirational and well-resolved architecture – involving and engaging stakeholder; colleagues and consultants in the often indirect journey from concept to completion.

Architecture suits my temperament. It provides opportunities for creativity throughout the design process – from broad planning to fine detailing.  It also demands technical rigour – a balance between the statutory, financial and engineering. The result of our endeavours should be beautiful and useful. That synthesis can be inspirational.
