Double Bay House II

Location:
Gadigal Country / Double Bay

The two-level house is set in a north-facing bay in Sydney’s harbour with a pristine beach immediately in front, while to the one side, the site overlooks a park. The park facade is designed as an ensemble of solid and transparent planes; a play on space, privacy and threshold. To the roadside, the house presents opaque graphite grey screens providing privacy and sound modulation. Facing the harbour, there is an open-plan living area space using internal stairs delineating the raised kitchen and family dining. The visual orientation of the living areas focusses on the garden and the harbour beyond.
